It's Windy!

We're having a bit of wind today. The weather service posted a wind advisory to last until 7:00pm. At seven they updated it to 9:00pm. It's nine now and it doesn't look like it's done. 25mph at this time. The temp has dropped from the high 70s to below 60 in a couple of hours. Out here in ND we have shelter belts. This is a man-made thing. Lewis and Clarke just saw open prarie when they were here, but the farmers plant rows of trees to break up the wind so the crops can grow. I had to bring in the plants from the porch as they were blowing around. We planted a bunch of trees and shrubs last month. All of the Lilacs are doing great. The Nanking Cherry bushes are starting the get leaves. Unfortunatly, the Sand Cherries and the Hackberries look like they didn't make it. I also planted three Golden Currants and one is doing okay I think. The veggie garden is going nuts and we have lots of stuff coming up. Fun.

p.s. This comment of yours was written on the 210th anniversary of one of my _ABSOLUTE_ favourite musical organizations as I may have told you, "The President's Own" United States Marine Band! An act of Congress that day re-established/organized the Marine Corps under the new Government, and, as part of this, a group of fifers and drummers was established in Philadelphia which would soon move to the new Capital and, over the years, become the first-class musical organizaion it is today! Should you and your readers be interested, you may learn more at the Band's Website, http://www.marineband.usmc.mil. Greetings!:

I have not been here in a while (I have been away from another blog with which we both are acquainted even longer, perhaps to my shame), so thought I would visit now.

Though I regret the damage the wind is causing your crops, I envy you your cool temperatures, though admittedly and _THANKFULLY_ we have been having spells of limited humidity here! This fruit lover (though not necessarily all fruits) hopes you get to enjoy yours, as I am here, though I have thus far only paid two visits to a farmers market located only a few blocks from here which is open on Saturdays and _MAYBE_ Sundays. I look forward to figs next month, having re-acquainted myself with the fresh ones last August after _MANY_ years!

Your previous piece about African Americans gives, as the cliche would have it, much food for careful thought. These people may indeed have suffered previous injustices, but, dare I say it, they have their own responsibilities, and one obviously hopes they manage to meet them.

Hoping, as usual, that this finds you and your readers well,

As I think I may have told you previously, the comment fields in both your and my blog are not compatible with my screen reader for the blind as per colour and/or background, and thus I cannot edit nor proofread while writing, but am able to do so once finished by disengaging what my reader calls "forms mode," which is engaged by pressing Enter over a field where something is to be written. A while ago, I learned to turn Forms Mode off without pressing a "go button," either "Preview" or "Publish" here in Blogger, and thus can proofread before submitting a comment, though I am unable to find my place to make corrections. Yet, on some pages, I am able to add a p.s. or its equivalent at the end by pressing Enter on the last line of the original text and then pressing Enter twice more to move me down two lines from where I finished. Yet, when I tried that in my previous comment, I was taken back to the beginning of my comment, and thus the p.s. comes first instead of last! There is also an uncorrected typographical error, and hopefully there have been no other ones here!

Welcome back, JV, it's nice to know someone has been reading my blog. I'm trying to post a lot this month, but no one is really reading so it must be for my own benefit.
